Welcome to Johnson & Wales University’s Charlotte Campus summer intern housing program at Cedar Hall South. Located just 7 blocks from Uptown Charlotte, this location is the perfect housing option for a college student participating in a summer internship program.

Residents should be able to complete all of their daily tasks without a vehicle. Amenities in walking distance include restaurants, a Harris Teeter grocery store, numerous dry cleaners, a CVS Pharmacy, along with a variety of sports and entertainment establishments. The Gold Line street car is one block away and provides access to Uptown and surrounding communities.

Finding affordable and safe housing in a center city urban environment during the summer months can be a challenging task. Our goal at JWU is to make this process smooth and your stay with us an enjoyable one.

Accommodations & Amenities

Cedar Hall South houses up to 132 residents with double occupancy. There may be opportunities for single occupancy depending on availability. The suite-style units have two bedrooms each with two beds, desks, chairs, dressers and a Microfridge. Each suite has a bathroom and Wi-Fi access. The beds are extra length twin size.

Cedar Hall South offers a large game room with a pool table, big-screen television, and plenty of comfortable lounge furniture. A community kitchen is available on the 4th floor. Washers and dryers are available on each floor and accept credit cards.

To ensure a safe environment for all residents, card access is required to gain entry to Cedar Hall South and to access residential rooms. There is convenient parking available at a discounted rate in our secured access parking deck across the street from the residential hall.

Program Dates

The program runs from Saturday, May 18, 2024 to Saturday, August 10, 2024.

Minimum length of stay is 45 nights.  You can move in and out in between and including these dates.

Holiday Closures

Move-in or move-out will be unavailable during the following days due to holidays: 

  • May 24-27, 2024
  • July 4-7, 2024

Room Rates & Fees

The summer housing program offers single and double occupancy.  The rate for double occupancy is $42 per night per occupant, the rate for single occupancy is $65 per night, per occupant.  There is limited availability for single occupancy, and it is on a first come, first serve basis.  Rates include utilities, Wi-Fi access and a dinner meal plan that is available Sunday through Thursday evenings.  

  • A $100 NON-REFUNDABLE registration fee is required to confirm a reservation.
  • Housing fee, based on the number of room nights, along with a one-time $25 cleaning fee is due no later than Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Please note that there are NO refunds after April 24, 2024.

Payment Options

Payments can be made by credit card on a secure site or by check.  Instructions for payment will be included in your acceptance email that will be forwarded upon receipt of your application for housing form.

 

Terms and Requirements

To be eligible for summer housing, all applicants must be a graduate or undergraduate student currently enrolled in a summer internship located in Charlotte or the surrounding area. Keep in mind that you must stay for a minimum of 45 nights; beyond that, room rental dates can be tailored to align with your internship dates.

  • A $100 non-refundable registration fee is required to confirm a reservation.  Once we reach capacity a waitlist will be created. 
  • All residents must return a signed copy of JWU’s Summer Internship Housing Program Agreement prior to the payment deadline. The agreement will be sent electronically within 5 business days of receiving your registration fee to the resident's email address on file.  
  • Your payment is due no later than Wednesday, April 24, 2024. 
  • The last day to make changes to your arrival and/or departure dates will be on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Date changes must be within the program dates of May 18-August 10, 2024.
  • If you cancel on or before Wednesday, April 24, 2024 you will receive a full refund of all payments made except for the non-refundable registration fee.  After this date, all payments will be non-refundable. 
  • To make changes or cancel, you must contact us by email. Changes and cancellations will only be accepted via email.
